My choice to pursue graduate work after years of working as a laboratory technician was a difficult one. However when I reflect upon my journey as a first year student thus far, I realize how lucky I am to be involved with an institution that genuinely cares for their students. The department is designed such that students maximize their interactions with faculty and fellow students. This creates a very comfortable learning atmosphere that fosters academic and social growth. The Department encourages collaborative effort and promotes the mutual exchange of research ideas. Collaborations on any given project may involve biologists specializing in various fields, physicists, mathematicians and bioinformaticians.The decision to attend Princeton was the best I ever made. In addition to the wonderful learning experience, I have also truly enjoyed my stay at Princeton. Princeton is located close to several major cities and beaches allowing students to maintain a healthy social life. I would strongly encourage all applicants to rank Princeton at the top of their lists.
